Kay started a private counseling practice in 1992 in Colorado Springs when her family moved from Farmington, Michigan. After graduating from Eastern Michigan University with a Master of Arts in counseling, she began her own practice in 1989 in Farmington, Michigan. From 1968-1985 she lived and worked with her family in Kenya, East Africa.
